Lift Community Services’ board of directors has announced the resignation of executive director Stuart Clark as of April 2, 2024.
The board expressed gratitude for Clark’s leadership over the past six years in a media release on January 25, stating that he is leaving to pursue new endeavours. A hiring committee has been struck to find the next executive director for the organization.
“After six extraordinary years, we are sad to see Stuart go,” stated board chair Maggie Hathaway. “He has led this organization through incredible growth, whilst facing previously unheard of obstacles, and continues to champion Lift's work in the community today.
“We are grateful for Stuart’s leadership and we wish him the very best in his next venture.”
Clark joined Lift as executive director in September 2017. According to the release, under his leadership, the organization formerly known as Powell River Employment Program (PREP) Society rebranded to Lift Community Services of qathet Society; launched the qathet region’s only supportive housing program; provided immediate housing, food and harm reduction supports to community members throughout the COVID-19 pandemic; took on the administrative and operational lead for the qathet Community Action Team; and worked with provincial and local partners to bring Complex Care Housing services to the community; and more.
“I can‘t overstate how much Stu has done for the organization in a relatively short period of time,” added Hathway.
Lift is preparing a job posting that will be posted as early as next week.
“As a critical employer and service provider in the community," stated Hathaway, “we are going to take our time to make sure we find the right person for the job.”
