ICBC taking knowledge tests by appointments next month

ICBC announced they will be allowing some customers to take their knowledge tests starting May 4. All knowledge tests are by appointments only and at specific ICBC locations to make sure physical distancing guidelines are followed.

ICBC announced they will be allowing some customers to take their knowledge tests starting May 4.

All knowledge tests are by appointments only and at specific ICBC locations to make sure physical distancing guidelines are followed.

“We know many British Columbians are facing challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Nicolas Jimenez, CEO of ICBC.

“By introducing knowledge tests by appointment, we hope to support customers who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic while still enabling offices to conduct operations safely.”

Driver’s with a Class 5 to 8 learner’s licence that have expired on or after March 1 or will expire within two weeks from when they book their a knowledge test will be eligible for an appointment.

And those with a learner’s licence that expired on or after March 17, when road tests were suspended, will not have to pay the fee for their first knowledge test.

Residents who are new to B.C. and need to change their licences within 90 days because of legislative requirements and all commercial learner class applicants, are also eligible to make an appoinemnt for their tests.

However, first-time learners are not eligible to book an appointment at this time.

Motorcycle Skills Testing will begin on May 11 for those who already have a learner’s licence or their learner’s licence expired on or after March 1.
