Multiple Malaspina Sky round trips between Powell River and the Sechelt Peninsula have been cancelled for September 2 and 3 due to an insufficient number of crew members being available.

According to notices from BC Ferries, the cancelled sailings include the 4:55 pm departure from Saltery Bay (Powell River), and the 6 pm return from Earls Cove (Sechelt Peninsula) on September 2. The 7:05 pm and 9 pm departures from Saltery Bay, and return trips from Earls Cove at 8:05 and 10 pm, are also cancelled.

Cancelled sailings on September 3 are the 5:35 am departure from Saltery Bay, and the 6:30 am return from Earls Cove. Service on September 3 is expected to resume with the 7:25 am departure from Saltery Bay.

"We require a specific number of staff members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations," stated BC Ferries. “If circumstances change and replacement crew become available, we will notify customers immediately.”
