1. May 9

Finn Bay Road

Police responded to a report of theft from a vehicle. Sometime between May 5 and 9, someone drilled into the side of the fuel tank on the vehicle and siphoned gas from inside. Although there was very little fuel taken, this action left damage to the fuel tank. This is the second time in a week this has happened in that area. 2. May 10

4400 block Michigan Avenue

Police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle and spoke to the 18-year-old male driving the vehicle. The driver showed signs of impairment and provided a breath sample which registered a “fail.” His vehicle was impounded and he is facing impaired driving charges and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.

3. May 12

Goat Lake

Police and Powell River Search and Rescue Society responded to a report of stranded campers on the north side of the lake. The campers had canoed to that location, but sometime during the night their canoe had washed away leaving them stranded. The couple were located and returned to their vehicle.
