1. January 26

6900 block Courtenay Street

At approximately 7:30 pm a female was arrested for being intoxicated at a city-owned emergency services facility. The female continually disrupted a training session and refused to leave upon request which resulted in the RCMP being called. The female was taken to an RCMP jail cell, held until sober, and then released without charge.

2. January 28

Marine Avenue near Dogwood Street

At approximately 10:15 pm a red Ford F150 was clocked on radar travelling close to 20 kilometres per hour over the posted speed limit. After stopping the vehicle and speaking to the driver symptoms of alcohol consumption were observed. The driver then provided two breath samples which both resulted in “fail” readings. As a result, the driver’s licence was immediately seized for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

3. January 29

4100 block Joyce Avenue

At approximately 10:45 pm a black 1996 GMC Jimmy was observed exiting a local liquor store parking lot, failed to stop at the exit, then exceeding the posted speed limit while driving away. The vehicle was stopped by police and upon speaking to the driver symptoms of alcohol consumption was observed. The driver was requested to provide a breath sample but ultimately refused. This resulted in the driver’s licence being seized for 90 days and the vehicle being impounded for 30 days.

4. January 30

Gillies Bay, Texada Island

Texada Island RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence. The search resulted in the seizure of over 100 marihuana plants in various stages of production, five firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. One male was arrested and later released on conditions to appear in court to face charges related to the production of a controlled substance and the careless storage of firearms.
