Public hearing

Bylaw 2399, 2014, to amend a city zoning bylaw from 2006, will go to public hearing.

At the January 15 City of Powell River council meeting, councillors gave first and second reading to the amendment bylaw. If passed, the new bylaw will make alterations to residential zoning requirements in the city. The bylaw amendment stipulates new lot dimensions in the R1 and R2 zones, permitted uses in R1 zones, permitted uses in R2 zones, plus alterations to RM1 zoning, which includes townhouses, cluster housing or compact housing.

Public hearing date has yet to be announced.

Clerical error

Council has remedied a clerical error in its permissive tax exemption bylaw.

Council adopted Bylaw 2390, 2014 on October 16, 2014, exempting various organizations from certain taxes for taxation year 2015. However, there was a clerical error that stated the exemption was for the year 2014. Adoption of Bylaw 2398, 2014 allows council to amend the bylaw to represent its intended purpose, which is to stipulate the taxation year as 2015 rather than 2014.
