At the City of Powell River Council meeting on December 21, a development variance permit was granted to waive the requirement for a sanitary sewer main extension and permitting of private onsite septic service to a new single-family dwelling on a property listed as Lot 4 Atlin Avenue in Wildwood. The property is five acres in size.
City bylaws do not permit a property in the zoning area to be serviced by a private onsite septic system, but according to a staff report, the applicant asserts that the requirement to extend a sanitary sewer main along Atlin is onerous and cost prohibitive.
The nearest sanitary main exists almost 100 metres south on Lund Street, according to the staff report.
