City of Powell River parks and recreation crews are brushing and clearing pathways and roadsides on city-owned lands.
According to a media release from the city, the ongoing program maintains city road allowances so garbage and recycling collection, snow removal and sight lines at intersections and driveways are not impeded. Many of these locations have become overgrown with invasive species and other vegetation, the release stated.
Every effort is being made to only clear on city property, according to the release. The city asks any residents who live along public rights-of-way to trim back any overhanging branches or overgrown vegetation and remove any personal items that may obstruct the work.
