Electoral Area A director Patrick Brabazon will once again be chair of the qathet Regional District Board (qRD) for 2021. City of Powell River director CaroleAnn Leishman will again be chair of the Powell River Regional Hospital District Board for 2021.
According to a media release from the regional district, at the inaugural meeting of the qRD board held on November 26, pursuant to provisions prescribed in the Local Government Act, Brabazon was acclaimed chair of the board for 2021. This distinction marks the seventh year in a row the board of directors has looked to Brabazon for his leadership.
“I am honoured to be reelected chair of the regional board,” stated Brabazon. “Collaboration and cooperation will be necessary more than ever as we continue to face the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. By working together, the qathet regional board will continue to advance the interests of our community.”
At the inaugural meeting of the Powell River Regional Hospital District Board held on November 26, pursuant to provisions prescribed in the Hospital District Act, Leishman was acclaimed as chair for 2021. This distinction marks the third year in a row the hospital district board has chosen Leishman.
“I am honoured to be appointed chair of the regional hospital district for another year, and although this past year has been the most challenging one a lot of us have seen in our lifetimes, I remain optimistic that things will get better,” stated Leishman. “I am grateful for the strong team of leaders we have in local government, both in elected positions, and our staff and management. We will all continue to work hard for the community we care for so much and I hope people will continue to stay safe, be patient and kind to one another.”
