BC Ferries has cancelled the afternoon and evening sailings of the Salish Orca due to adverse weather conditions, citing high winds as the reason.

The following sailings have been cancelled: 3:25 pm departing Little River Terminal (Comox); 5:15 pm departing Westview Terminal; (Powell River) 7:10 pm departing Little River; and 8:45 pm departing Westview.

BC Ferries also cancelled sailings of the Island Kuluta due to adverse weather conditions, including: the 5:50 departing Texada Island; the 6 pm departing Westview; the 6:50 pm departing Texada; the 7:40 pm departing Westview.

Customers with bookings on the impacted sailings will have their bookings cancelled and refunded, and will be contacted by the BC Ferries’ team to advise of the sailing cancellations, according to a travel advisory from the ferry corporation.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us,” the travel advisory stated. “We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We will resume service as soon as it is safe to do so.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of these cancellations.”

BC Ferries stated its goal is to inform its customers as early as possible of any changes to scheduled sailings. The company recommends that for the most up-to-date sailing and departure information, customers also follow @BCFerries on Twitter, visit the current conditions webpage at bcferries.com, or call toll-free at 1.888.223.3779.
