BC election night: BC NDP's Randene Neill wins Powell River-Sunshine Coast

10:17 p.m.

With CBC and Global having declared BC NDP's Randene Neill as the projected NDP MLA for Powell River-Sunshine Coast, Neill has given a victory speech, thanking her supporters. As of 10:21 p.m., with 26 of 29 ballot boxes reported in, Neill has just under 50 per cent of the vote, with 13,141 ballots cast in her favour. 

Conservative candidate Chris Moore follows Neill with 9,409 votes (35.5 per cent of the vote), then Chris Hergesheimer of the BC Greens with 3,649 (13.8 per cent) and Independent Greg Reid with 308 votes (1.16 per cent). 

9:40 p.m.

After a pause in results, more ballot boxes have called in. BC NDP's Randene Neill leads with 10,992 votes to Conservative Chris Moore's 8,362 votes. BC Greens' Chris Hergesheimer has 3,001 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 264.

Twenty three of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

9:10 p.m.

The count has slowed for Powell River-Sunshine Coast with 21 of 29 ballot boxes reported. BC NDP's Randene Neill still leads 9,884 to Conservative Chris Moore's 7,653 votes. 

Jordan Copp arrived at the Sunshine Coast BC NDP's campaign headquarters in Sechelt shortly after 9 p.m. where they're watching the results.

8:52 p.m.

As of 8:50 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead is at 9,733 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 7,526 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 2,610 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 243 votes. 

8:45 p.m.

As of 8:45 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead is at 9,720 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 7,517 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 2,607 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 243 votes. 

Twenty of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:40 p.m.

As of 8:40 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead is at 9,224 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 7,171 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 2,496 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 237 votes. 

Nineteen of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:35 p.m.

As of 8:35 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead is at 6,956 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 5,819 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 1,943 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 201 votes. 

Eighteen of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:30 p.m.

As of 8:30 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead has widened with 6,011 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 4,844 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 1,724 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 169 votes. 

Fourteen of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:22 p.m.

Elections BC's electronic ballot counting system has results coming in quickly. 

As of 8:22 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill's lead has widened with 2,385 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 1,579 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 823 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 73 votes. 

Eight of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:18 p.m.

As of 8:18 p.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill is leading with 854 votes, BC Conservative Chris Moore has 608 votes, BC Greens Chris Hergesheimer has 233 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 33 votes. 

Five of 29 ballot boxes have reported. 

8:11 p.m.

Polls are closed and the first results are coming in. 

As of 8:11 a.m., BC NDP's Randene Neill is narrowly leading with 229 votes to Conservative Chris Moore's 205 votes. BC Green Chris Hergesheimer follows with 61 votes and Independent Greg Reid has 8. 

7 p.m.

It's been a soggy voting day (and day two of the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl!) on the lower Sunshine Coast. Polls close in an hour, at 8 p.m., (if you haven't yet voted, find information at elections.bc.ca) and results should start coming in shortly thereafter.
