The writ dropped Saturday, September 21, for the BC provincial general election on October 19.
Early voting and mail-in has now begun and those who want to cast their ballot sooner than later can do so at Powell River Town Centre mall. The main Elections BC office is located near the CIBC entrance at 41-7100 Alberni Street.
This will be the 43rd provincial general election with a final voting day on Saturday, October 19. Eligible voters can also cast their ballot at Powell River River Recreation Complex at 5001 Joyce Avenue, Thursday to Sunday, October 10 to 13, and Tuesday to Wednesday, October 15 to 16.
“Eligible voters can vote from now until polls close on final voting day,” stated chief electoral officer Anton Boegman in a media release. "Voters can cast their ballot at any district electoral office, at advance voting, by mail or on final voting day, and I encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballot and participate in British Columbia’s democracy.”
The Elections BC media release stated that voting is available now at any district electoral office and Elections BC has opened offices in every electoral district in the province. Office locations and hours are listed at elections.bc.ca/offices.
Voting by mail is an option for all eligible voters, and is an option for voters who will be away from the province during advance voting and on final voting day. Voters can request a vote-by-mail package online at votebymail.elections.bc.ca, by phone at 1.800.661.8683, or in person at any district electoral office.
