As part of an International Women's Day feature, the Peak asked qathet region entrepreneurs about their journeys in business. Here are the responses from Kylee Watchel (On Track Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation):
What advice do you have for aspiring women entrepreneurs or professionals?
I am still learning so much early in my career, but I would say so far the biggest thing that helped me was spending lots of time interning, shadowing and volunteering. I came from a small, rural town and moved for school and work often. If you want to learn and get ahead it's beneficial to work for/with people who are where you want to be. Stay open to opportunities. I do believe life works out if you keep your goals in mind and act intentionally to get yourself there.
What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry?
I was always involved with sports and passionate about fitness. When looking into postsecondary the only program that interested me was kinesiology. I was lucky to take a position working in occupational rehabilitation. Our team and clients are the best and I feel grateful to play a part in helping injured workers' rehabilitation journey.
How has your journey shaped your approach to business?
Seeing different management strategies and having great mentors has greatly helped.
