Powell River Women in Business (PRWiB) will host its 10th Influential Business Women of the Year Awards virtually on June 16, 2021.
The nonprofit organization presents the awards to acknowledge and encourage women who put effort, time and knowledge into their businesses, which benefits and strengthens the entire community.
“When the executive was discussing whether to host these awards this year, we all agreed that we didn’t want COVID-19 to win and hold us back another year,” says PRWiB president Jennifer Konopelski. “But things are definitely going to look different this year with holding it virtually. We will be delivering these awards live and making a surprise delivery to deserving women at their homes.”
Powell River Women in Business was launched in 2007 by two local business women with a vision. Its goal is to welcome, support and promote a strong network of female-driven businesses in Powell River, and assist in the growth of businesses for the betterment of the community and the local economy.
“These awards are important, especially with the last year that we have all had to overcome,” says Konopelski. “We would like all business owners to know that we are here for them, and recognize the women who have truly excelled, not only in their professional lives but also as leaders and role models in our community.”
The event, featuring an evening of recognition with live award presentations to winners, will be streamed live on Facebook, starting at 7 pm. For more details about the event, go to prwomeninbusiness.com.
