Air fryers are all the rage these days, and rightly so! Drastically decreasing cooking times compared to oven baking, they’re small-scale convection ovens that lead to delicious, crispy food without the use of a lot of oil.

Wondering what plant-based foods you can cook in an air fryer? The options are endless!

The usual go-tos for vegans are proteins such as tofu, tempeh and seitan. Veggies like Brussels sprouts and potatoes brown very nicely while remaining soft on the inside, and green beans and asparagus take only a few minutes to cook from frozen.

Here’s something you may not have thought of before: cook pasta as you normally would (wheat, or pasta made from chickpeas or red lentils for an extra protein boost), then toss it in the air fryer with your seasonings of choice (black pepper? Smoked paprika? Curry powder?) The result is perfectly crispy pasta chips!
