VIDEO: Water main burst causes disruption in Westview

Watered turned off this morning in order for City of Powell River crew to repair pipe; service restored this afternoon

In the early morning hours of Thursday, November 30, residents of a small section of Harvie Avenue and Alberni Street in Westview were without running water.

Heather Ellis, DBA operational services secretary for City of Powell River said, in an email to the Peak, that: "City of Powell River utilities staff were notified by phone after 12 am Thursday morning."

Ellis said the crew had to dig a very large hole. The water had to be turned off while investigating the problem, which seemed to be a burst water main. The reason for the burst was unknown at the time, but service was restored in the afternoon.
