Graduating grade 12 students dressed in their finest on Saturday, June 26, and cruised through some of Powell River’s busiest streets in and on a variety of vehicles as the community came out to recognize their rite of passage.
The parade started at the Beach Gardens south of town and after utilizing Joyce and Manson avenues in Westview, as well as a few side streets, wound through Cranberry and into Townsite before coming to a halt at Brooks Secondary School.
Many of the participants decorated the vehicles they rode in.
This year’s formal graduation ceremony will be held on June 28 in Max Cameron Theatre, where graduates will make their way across the stage to be recognized by a limited number of family members allowed to be present due to COVID-19.
