Joyce Commons hosted a block party on Saturday, August 12 for seniors who live in the building on Joyce Avenue in Westview.

"We had a good turnout with 32 people attending," said property manager Chuck Kirkpatrick. "They all enjoyed it and are looking forward to next year's gathering."

Tents and all food and drinks were supplied by owners of Joyce Commons.

"Big thanks to Powell River Quilters for the use of the tables," added Kirkpatrick, "and Al Austin as Austin General Contracting and Andy Davis as Mr. Green-Up."

At the December 15, 2022, City of Powell River Council meeting, councillors approved a recommendation to facilitate construction of a four-unit residential building to comprise the third phase, situated to the rear of the complex, of the Joyce Commons mixed-used development.

The first two phases of Joyce Commons contain 22 residential units over four buildings, a mix of ground-oriented one- and two-bedroom units, with a handful of second storey units in the buildings that front Joyce Avenue.
