Powell River Fire Rescue and Putters Mini Golf are teaming up to offer the very first Tee’s the Season light show to raise money for charitable causes.
Tee’s the Season will be open at Putters on December 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19 from 5 to 8 pm. On December 18, firefighters will be in attendance sharing the joy of the season and 50/50 tickets will be sold.
Christmas was really hard for many families last year and when Powell River Fire Rescue crews were presented with the opportunity to participate in a light display that will bring cheer to the community, they jumped at the chance, said Trish Greenwood, Powell River Fire Rescue coordinator and public educator.
“Putters’ management was generous enough to supply all the lights and decorations and our members donated their time to turn the park into a magical wonderland,” said Greenwood. “Donations to enter the park go to the Powell River Firefighters Charitable Society, which in turn helps families who have survived traumatic burn injuries through the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund, as well as to fund school food programs, house fire safety and other local charitable initiatives. It is my hope your family will love this experience as much as we did making it happen.”
Cindy Temple, CEO and controller for the Davic Group of Companies, said Putters is “super excited” to be teaming up with Powell River Fire Rescue in offering up the first Tee’s the Season light show event.
“Our Facebook community voted with likes on the name and we really quite like that the creator will get a couple of months of golf for her creativity,” said Temple. “Putters, in the spirit of giving back, hopes that this light show will be enjoyed and embraced by our community and will be supported as such for many years to come. Dave, Laurie and the Formosa family would like you to enjoy this gift of light and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.”
Putters will be open for coffee and ice cream and the mini golf course will be open to walk through and enjoy the lights (no golfing) by donation to the Powell River Professional Firefighters Charitable Society.
