To the graduating class of 2022:
Not a single one of us knew to anticipate what these last few years would be like. When you began your formal education and worked your way towards the end of the school year, there was certainly ambiguity, changes and stresses, yet you’ve succeeded and reached this important milestone with perseverance. For all these reasons, I offer my heartfelt congratulations.
As you’ve navigated your way through not only a pandemic, but your classes, friendships, relationships, and life so far, I hope you’ve also learned some things about yourself that can help guide you in the future, such as what you value and hold dear, and what you can achieve.
I also want to share my appreciation for your teachers, parents and loved ones for their hard work in supporting you as you grew up. I recognize the joy, pride and love we feel as our children move into new chapters of their lives.
I’d like to share with the graduates a quote from one of history’s most celebrated women, Eleanor Roosevelt:
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
As you find your way in our community and in our world, I hope you do it with passion and curiosity, as well as with compassion, hopefulness and determination.
Sincere best wishes.
