It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Philip Gerald Derkatch.
Phil was born and raised in Powell River. He grew up in Wildwood where he had many adventures on Scout Mountain, Powell Lake and Sandy Beach.
He was a saw filer, a shake block cutter, and a heavy duty equipment operator, a hard worker and jack of all trades; all done with integrity.
Some of his favourite stories were made when we ran a shake block camp up the Klyte River. We ventured to beautiful places very few had ever seen. His love for the outdoors has passed to his sons. Hikes, campfires, boating, swimming and playing kick-the-can were part of our Sunday outings.
Phil was predeceased by his mom Jeanette Derkatch (Bourassa) and dad Mervin Derkatch. He leaves behind his wife Gina, sons Travis (Savannah), Jesse (Tayler) and Tyler Gentry, his sister Donna (Trevor) Hagon, many aunts and uncles, sister and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
