Michel “Mike” Barcelonne - husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend of many - passed away peacefully at home.
Mike was born on March 12, 1936, to Marie “Mimi” and Maurice Barcelonne in Bourdeaux, France, and immigrated to Canada at a young age. He worked the majority of his career for the Department of Highways and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working on vehicles, but most important, spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loyal husband, a present father, a selfless friend and a loving grandpa.
Mike leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years Jane Barcelonne, his children Karen and Michele and their families, Michael (Tara), Mary-Jane (Rick), David (Caroline), grandchildren Victoria (Keith), Brett (Ashly), Dylan, Lucy, Summer, Haaken, Fawkes and Macy, great-grandson Brooks, and countless friends and family. He was predeceased by his sister Marie, parents Mimi and Maurice, and many other loved ones.
The family would like to thank the qathet General Hospital ER, ICU and MSP nursing staff who cared for Mike over the years, as well as a special thank-you to Dr. Watson, Dr. Uhlmann, Dr. May and Dr. Hoffert. Thank you to all of the friends and family, the Evangel Church community and neighbours Diana and Jay for all their support and love to Mike and his family throughout his life.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on October 22 at the Evangel Church, with a tea to follow.
