In memoriam: Donald Dunn

February 24, 1922 - May 13, 1984
Donald Dunn

Our beloved dad, Donald Dunn passed away 38 years ago on May 13, 1984, at the age of 62 years.

Don was born in Manchester, Lancashire, England. After spending his childhood and school years in England, he showed his bravery and loyalty to his country by enlisting in the East Lancashire Regiment. Don served during the Second World War and was honourably awarded several medals.

During this time he married his sweetheart Margaret Andrews on April 23, 1946. After the war ended, Don and Margaret immigrated to Canada in 1951 with their daughter, Deirdre.

With his skills as a millwright, Don obtained a position in the Powell River mill. He was a very responsible, hardworking and dependable employee until he retired.

It was during these years that Don and Margaret were blessed with two more children, a son, Stephen, and a daughter, Dayna. Together they built a house in Westview to raise their family.

Our dad was the most honest, kind, dedicated and loving father we could have ever asked for. He enjoyed working around the family home, gardening, reading, tinkering with electronics and spending time with his family.

Dad and Mom took us to England to visit relatives and they enjoyed several holidays together in Reno, Las Vegas, California and their special destination, Hawaii.

Our dad passed as he lived, with courage and dignity. Our mother Margaret passed away on March 8, 2021, and went to reunite with her beloved husband Don.

Dearest dad, not a day goes by that we don’t feel your absence. We miss your invaluable advice. Nobody can fill up the space you left behind in our hearts years ago. We wish we could have had more time with you.

Our dad, Donald Dunn, will always be remembered, always loved and forever in our hearts.

Love always, Deirdre, Stephen, Dayna and families.
