There has been a lot of buzz about director Greta Gerwig and co-writer Noah Baumbach’s movie Barbie since its Canadian release on July 21, 2023.
The fantasy comedy-adventure has surprisingly had the most successful opening weekend of the year, surpassing popular movies such as Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel and the newly released Oppenheimer.
Some speculate that moviegoers are ready to go back to the theatre and see something different, have fun and make an event out of it.
“This Barbie movie is going to be huge,” said Patricia Theatre manager Laura Wilson. “We’ve already presold 250 tickets.”
