On this day:
In 1943, Soviet dictator Josef Stalin made the cover of TIME magazine as the “Man of the Year” for 1942.

In 1970, the last recording session held by legendary music group The Beatles took place at Abbey Road studios in London.

In 2001, Washington Wizards forward Michael Jordan, who spent the majority of his career with Chicago Bulls, became the fourth player in National Basketball Association history to reach the 30,000 career points plateau.
