In 1980, Philadelphia Flyers set a National Hockey League record by playing in a 35th consecutive game without a defeat.
In 1994, the bodyguard of American figure skater Tonya Harding attacked defending United States figure skating champion Nancy Kerrigan at the US Championships in Detroit. She was struck on the lower right thigh with a telescopic baton.
In 2021, a mob of people who supported outgoing United States president Donald Trump stormed the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, while certification of current president Joe Biden’s election victory took place. Five people died in the riot, and many more were injured, including more than 150 police officers.
