On this day:
In 1959, earthlings saw the dark/far side of the moon for the first time when Soviet spacecraft Luna 3 sent back pictures. Due to the moon’s orbit and rotation, just under 60 per cent of its surface is visible from Earth

In 1992, the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed by Canadian, Mexican and American representatives in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2001, Britain and the United States launched air attacks against military targets and Osama bin Laden’s training camps in Afghanistan in the wake of the September 11 attacks.

Today’s weather:
Friday, October 7, is expected to have a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 24 degrees Celsius, dropping to a low of 10 degrees in the evening. For the full 12-hour and seven-day qathet region weather forecast, go to our weather page.

Meanwhile…
We recently published photos from a fundraising event at Dwight Hall where attendees dressed up and got into the groove, dancing the night away with Wunderbread, a retro-funk-disco band playing songs from the 1960s to 1990s.
