Texada Island plays host to an evening of music, poetry and storytelling on Saturday, April 22, featuring a trio of qathet-based musicians.
Performers include vocalist Savanna Jones-Martin, pianist Walter Martella and cellist Hugh Prichard.
“Together, we have curated an hour-long program of music and poetry that explores themes of integrity, self-worth and the importance of staying connected to one’s wild nature,” said Jones-Martin. “The central message of this project is to encourage people to cultivate a discerning mindset that can distinguish between knowledge and truth.”
Layers of Becoming: An Evening of Music and Poetry takes place from 6:30 to 8 pm at The Flower and the Bee, 3887 Gillies Bay Road in Van Anda (doors open at 5:30 pm).
As the composer of the music for this concert, Jones-Martin said she is pleased to present the work as an acoustic version of her upcoming album, set to be released later this year.
“I believe this show will offer a unique and captivating experience that is sure to inspire and move anyone in attendance,” she added.
The show is nearly sold out, with fewer than 10 tickets available as of noon on Friday, April 21. For more information, visit the event’s page at Eventbrite.
