A Surrey man has been arrested and is facing several charges after allegedly ramming a police vehicle earlier this week.

Surrey RCMP say in a news release that 35-year-old Ryan Molnar has been charged with: assault of a police officer with a weapon (motor vehicle), failing to stop for police while being pursued, operating a motor vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public and procession of ammunition while prohibited.

Molnar remains in police custody and will make his next court appearance on Aug. 26.

On Aug. 21 at approximately 1:54 p.m., RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of 146 Street and 108 Avenue.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located the suspect vehicle, a blue Ford Explorer SUV. While officers attempted to make contact with the driver, the SUV allegedly rammed the police vehicle,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha.

Sangha added that the investigation is ongoing and if anyone has information including dash camera footage, to contact RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-124041.
