The 2025 Canadian federal election is in full swing, as the close of nominations for candidates hit on Monday, April 7.
There are now six candidates running in the North Island-Powell River riding: Aaron Gunn, Conservative Party of Canada; Tanille Johnston, New Democratic Party; Jennifer Lash, Liberal Party of Canada; Paul Macknight, People's Party of Canada; Glen Staples, Independent; and Jessica Wegg, Green Party of Canada.
General election day is on Monday, April 28, however, for those eager to cast a ballot in the qathet region before election day, they can do so using a special ballot process before April 22, at 6 pm (EST). Head to the Town Centre mall located at 7100 Alberni Street between 9 am and 9 pm.

Advance voting days:
Friday, April 18, Saturday, April 19, Sunday, April 20, and Monday, April 21, from 9 am to 9 pm, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164, located at 6811 Alexander Street, Powell River.
Election Day Monday, April 28:
Vote from 7 am to 7 pm, at Powell River Recreation Complex located at 5001 Joyce Avenue, Powell River. There is good accessibility at all polling stations in the qathet region, according to Elections Canada.
