Powell River Minor Hockey players on trash patrol

U18 Kings clean up as part of fundraising event

Bushes around the qathet region are less full of trash today (October 20) after the U18 Powell River Kings minor hockey team collected discarded items as part of its major fundraiser of the season.

They filled a container from Augusta Recycling with old tires and a heavy, steel pole with a concrete base, among other items.

Scotiabank partners with the team each year on this event, matching pledges collected by the players. Current bank staff and retired members provided hot dogs, coffee and iced tea as more pledges were made.

Someone will win a pair of Vancouver Canucks hockey tickets for supporting the team’s fundraising event.
