Investigating fire
Powell River RCMP and Powell River Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle fire on Duncan Street at Tanner Avenue. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a green 1996 GMC Yukon fully engulfed in flames. The vehicle had been parked on a grassy area adjacent to the roadway for the past week and was for sale. Initial examination of the scene failed to readily identify a source of the fire as the vehicle was extensively damaged, said Sergeant Cam Muir.
"Given the circumstances, police are considering the fire to be suspicious in nature," he said.
There were no injuries and fire personnel quickly brought the fire under control.
Readers who have information regarding the cause of this fire are asked to contact Constable Chris Wallace at 604.485.6255. Persons who wish to remain anonymous may also contact Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (1.800.222.TIPS).
The incident occurred at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, November 3.
